Poker is a card game where players try to make the best hand. It is played with a deck of 52 cards. There are hundreds of variations of poker but the basic rules remain the same. The best poker hand is often considered to be a straight flush. A straight flush is five cards in the same suit, whereas a gutshot is six cards in a different suit.<\/p>\n
Although the straight flush is the best, there are plenty of other hands to be considered. If a player has a pocket pair of 5 and 6 then the best possible hand is a 7 on the turn.<\/p>\n
The aforementioned straight flush is only half as likely to happen as a straight from the inside. Another good straight is an open-ended straight, which can be completed with any two cards from outside.<\/p>\n
When the dealer makes the appropriate announcement, all but one player folds. After that, all players are required to reveal their cards and the pot is awarded to the winner.<\/p>\n
Poker games can be played with as many as eight or nine players. In some games, there is a side pot created from additional money bet by remaining players. This is usually the case with Texas Hold’em.<\/p>\n
